Wings of Hope Wildlife Sanctuary is dedicated to the professional treatment and care for native wild bird and mammal species that are injured, orphaned or otherwise unable to care for themselves and return them to their native habitat.

The beauty of wildlife should be viewed from afar, respected and allowed to survive in their native habitat.  Some wild bird and mammal species that arrive at Wings of Hope are due to their contact with humans or human situations.  Individuals are encourage not to disturb or interrupt wildlife, however, sometimes it is necessary to assist orphaned or rehabilitate injured wild animals in order to return them to their native habitat.  We encourage individuals to resist the temptation of trying to make a pet of a wild animal.  Allow our trained staff and volunteers to provide the necessary professional care to the wildlife in preparation for its future release to the wild.

Contact Wings of Hope if you discover an injured wild bird or mammal, have concerns regarding a possible orphaned wild bird or mammal, or have any questions.

Wings of Hope is a wildlife rehabilitation center first and foremost; however, Wings of Hope has several permanent residents, which because of their permanent physical conditions can no longer survive in the wild.  These animals have calm dispositions which allow them to take part in our educational programs.  Respect for all wildlife is encouraged with particular emphasis placed on the potential dangers of handling wild animals.

Wings of Hope Wildlife Sanctuary is a 501c3 nonprofit organization operating only on the donations from concerned citizens.  Wings of Hope Wildlife Sanctuary does not receive any funding from the Federal or State Government.  Most of the funds received go towards food necessary to feed the animals during the rehabilitation.  Besides money, the donation of specific items is always needed and appreciated.  Volunteers are also an important asset to the success of the Wildlife Sanctuary.  Items purchased from the online store also provide an added source of funds to assist in operation of the organization.

Did you know...

...that Wings of Hope Wildlife Sanctuary, located in Livingston, Louisiana, is the only professionally-trained bat rehabilitation center in the state of Louisiana?

Bats are among the most beautiful and gentle animals on earth.  They are vital to the ecosystem and enhance our lives in many ways.  Insect eating bats eat millions of bugs nightly, and fruit bats bring us approximately 450 commercial products.  Yet for all they do, bats are continually killed due to superstition and fear.  The life expectancy of a single bat exceeds 20 years, but slow birth rates limit their population growth.  When just 5 bats are needlessly killed, a potential 100 years of animal life is destroyed.  If you find an injured or orphaned bat or have a nuisance bat problem please contact us immediately.  If you are unable to get in touch with us or awaiting our call-back, please visit Bat World Sanctuary to find out more information on how to rescue bats and what to do with nuisance bats.
