Wings of Hope Wildlife Sanctuary

Educational Residents

Wings of Hope Wildlife Sanctuary provides educational programs for all ages of school groups, Boy and Girl Scouts, nature events, garden and nature clubs.  Each program is customized to your specifications and are approximately 45 minutes to one hour in length.  Each program varies from another somewhat in topic, however all of the educational programs dispel myths and provide the audience with a natural history and knowledge of all animals presented in the program.

Respect for all wildlife is encouraged with particular emphasis placed on the potential dangers of handling wild animals.

Wings of Hope Wildlife Sanctuary is a rehabilitation center first and foremost, so the mammals, birds and raptors that take part in our programs are only those that are not stressed when being presented.  All donations and proceeds from the educational programs goes toward maintaining our sanctuaries, buying food and medical supplies.

Great Horned Owl

This Great Horned Owl came to Wings of Hope Wildlife Sanctuary as a nestling.  She had been raised by parents for quite some time after having fallen out of the nest. In the fall however, she broke her leg and we were unable to repair the damage.  She now helps us with Great Horned Owl babies during our very busy "baby season"

Barn Owl

Barney was found in the median of the interstate in New Orleans.  His wing was broken when he was apparently hit by car.  The wing was not able to be repaired.

American Kestrel

Geronimo, an American Kestrel took his first flight into power lines and broke his wing.  The wing did not heal correctly, so he is incapable of sustaining flight.  Unfortunately Geronimo has left us, but we will never forget this wonderful educational ambassador

Harris Hawk

Harriett is a retired falconry bird.  She has a breathing problem that limits her exercise
tolerance
